Nathaniel Gorham
(May 27, 1738 – June 11, 1796)


A delegate from Massachusetts to the Continental Congress. He served for six months as the presiding officer of that body. He attended the Constitutional Convention and was one of the signers of the United States Constitution on September 17, 1787, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a descendant of John Howland of the Mayflower in 1620. He was the only President of the First American Republic who could trace his ancestry to the Mayflower.
